We’re about to give you five solid reasons why you should make the trip to Creswick and visit the award-winning Creswick Woollen Mills.

The iconic attraction provides visitors with a well-rounded experience, with many elements combining to create an enjoyable day out for all ages.

Here are the five reasons why you should visit the last remaining coloured woollen mill in Australia!

1. The history

The founder of the Creswick Woollen Mills Paul Ryzowy started the mills when he arrived from Poland after World War II – a rich story in itself. With no prior factory knowledge, Ryzowy built the mill from the ground up, employing workers from near and far and establishing an iconic name in quality homewares and apparel. Fast forward to today, and the factory has been passed down to his grandson Boaz Herszfeld while still making use of the original 70-year-old machinery. The mill’s fascinating history is told through an interactive exhibition called A Very Fine Yarn, which follows the journey of the wool from its source right through to the shop shelves. You’ll also find out some super fun facts along the way!

2. The retail therapy

While the afternoon away browsing and buying at the Creswick Mill store featuring a great range of Australian made blankets, throw rugs, pillows and quilts, as well as homewares, rubber-backed picnic rugs and gorgeous Australian-made accessories that make for perfect gifts!

3. The animal enclosure

Visitors to Creswick can now get up-close-and-personal with the town’s gorgeous alpacas, calves, sheep and goats thanks to the opening of a new animal enclosure. The Animal Experience opened its doors in February, giving locals, tourists and visitors alike the chance to pet the friendly animals and get further insights into the fibres used to produce some of the company’s products.

4. The coffee and cake

Serving up St Ali coffee beans, and some scrumptious homemade delights (scones and jam, sandwiches, pastries), The Mill Cafe is the perfect spot to complete your Creswick Woollen Mills experience, and give you the energy you need for the ride home!
