Get set to experience Victoria’s coolest ever bathing experience – literally!
The award-winning Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa has added a new experience to its ever-growing list. Titled Extreme Bathing, the experience makes use of Nordic bathing techniques, combining the power of ice and meditation with a self-guided audio experience and Hepburn’s unique mineral waters to create an experience that has a multitude of benefits for one’s health and well-being.
The 15-minute experience includes immersion in water of 4 degrees for five minutes and a meditative journey using bespoke breathing techniques. (Pre-arranged group workshop courses can also be facilitated, delving deeper into this practice and its benefits.)
According to Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa general manager Karen Golden, ice bathing has been a common practice for many athletes, however the benefits of Nordic bathing go well beyond sports recovery.
Other benefits include improved sleep and energy levels, mood regulation, weight loss, and a decrease in symptoms of depression.
“Cold immersion is based on the strength of the mind and undertaking a journey of breath work and meditation before entering the water,” Karen says.
“This type of experience allows us to awaken our body and mind in a refreshing and renewed approach.”
The Extreme Bathing Self-Guided Experience includes two hours entry to the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa Sanctuary, the self-guided audio tour, access to the ice bath and other bathing facilities.
A one-day Extreme Bathing workshop will be held on July 7, designed to further your understanding of cold therapies and the healthy practice of ice immersion.
