In 2018 The Buninyong Christmas Tree Farm put an environmental spin on the traditional Christmas tree working with the Buninyong Men’s Shed to make over 500 timber trees using recycled wooden pallets.
The Farm was open over two weekends, at Netherby homestead in Buninyong, and welcomed hundreds of visitors.
The most popular element of the Farm was our ‘Art Series’ trees. They engaged local artists to apply their artistic talents to the timber trees – and the results were amazing. The Farm was a great success with over $9,000 going to the local Men’s Shed and over $600 to the Ballarat Soup Bus.
The popularity of the 2018 Art Series trees has inspired them to hold The 2019 Christmas Tree Art Exhibition. They are again engaging local artists to take up the challenge and be creative with their trees. The trees will be exhibited, and for sale over four days – an art-show with a difference.
Last years entries included painting, collaging, crocheting, decorating with plants, sculpting. The options are endless and they are looking forward to seeing just what their creatives come up with. You can view these trees and even purchase a unique tree for yourself.
